Like Antifa and BLM protests of recent years? If it's a diverse crowd, it'll be "Minorities and POC are protesting the undue burden Covid restrictions place on their communities"
In which case it'll be cheered and protected free speech with the ACLU ensuring they're legally protected.
I think anyone protesting anything feels in some way oppressed. Only the ones who've been told they are oppressed, and have been for generations, get Preferred/Protected Protest Status.Like Antifa and BLM protests of recent years?
So if those that IDENTIFY as OPPRESSED, then it's minority rights protest ... Right?
This is the reason you are driving through your neighborhood/city a few weeks before elections and take pictures of the signs they are advertising/voting for and share it with your buddies. Now that people are losing their jobs and employers are hurting due to dismissed staff per mandate, I see it going in only one direction ... up, up and away. This could be the match that lights the fuse ....
Bring it . . .This is the reason you are driving through your neighborhood/city a few weeks before elections and take pictures of the signs they are advertising/voting for and share it with your buddies.
Makes the process of elimination much easier when the purge begins.
I remember which lawns had the Biden-Harris signs ... heh hehSigns?
The only signs that I've seen over the last few election cycles have been for local candidates - and they've mostly been on public right-of-ways,,, ,
amazingly enough for SC, we did have too many biden signs in our neighborhood and city.Signs?

"That only works in democracies with open medias" !?!?!? How the hell do you get a democracy with an open media in the first place unless you're willing to act like the guy in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square!?!?! And that goes as well for keeping one!!! I encourage any protest that exercises right to free speech and assembly which are inherent human rights whether recognized by jurisdiction government or not, so long as no violence is planned and executed - with one crucial exception: violence may be justified to the extent required in order to repel violence when necessary for self defense.I hope nobody here is thinking we should encourage the people in Hong Kong to protest in any meaningful way. That only works in democracies with open medias. I am sure many of you are old enough to remember Tiananmen Square.
The Tiananmen square protest was peaceful, BTW, but no matter."That only works in democracies with open medias" !?!?!? You may be right about that, but listening to your sage advice there would never have been a United States of America. "Realpolitik" is subjective relativist pragmatic dogshit and deserves to be shovelled onto the compost pile of history along with other dogshit poltical theories, like Marxism, for example. Or perhaps, Blinken and Chamberlain for a more modern parallel. No doubt Chamberlain viewed appeasing Hitler as "realpolitik."You need to be very careful about when you encourage resistance to an oppressive government. It has worked very few times in history.....<big snip> But there is also Realpolitik, and ignoring that would be foolhardy for them.
It will depend entirely on how the protests are perceived by the media, and then how the narrative is manipulated.

If it's too many pale skinned folks, it'll be "White anti-government supremacists protesting mask mandates while causing super spreader events"
The southern poverty law center will deem them a hate group, the "squad" will accuse them of being a bunch of racist supporters of Israel, and they'll get no protection whatsoever.
Well, it is easy for the keyboard libertarian to tell people on the other side of the world what they ought to do. We got no skin in the game. Those people have a lot to lose. You may be right about that, but listening to your sage advice there would never have been a United States of America. "Realpolitic" is subjective relativist pragmatic dogshit and deserves to be shovelled onto the compost pile of history along with other dogshit poltical theories, like Marxism, for example. I was under the impression that the OP was referring to a spill over, in the event further lockdowns are mandated here...since he asked if we expected protests to do anything "like in Hong Kong".What minorities? What white people? It is in Hong Kong.
While your other remarks have merit, this does not. We DO have "skin in the game" wherever and whenever a group of people yearn to breath free and the alternative is to not breath at all. "Give me liberty or give me death." I'm willing to bet most of the population of the planet knows that phrase. You bet we've got skin in the game. And if you're only referring to literal "skin" just ask any member of our military or NGO sent to some country like Afghanistan to represent American democratic principles and values. Some of whom left their literal skin there.....We got no skin in the game. ....
What we need to do is stay calm, anticipate that third parties will register and post seditious material to justify shutting this site down, and REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY.
Again, I know it feels like the Republic is lost. It may be. But for now, on this site, please for the love of God stay calm, speak rationally, and hope for .... better judgement from our leaders in the future.
The coming days and weeks (likely after the 20th) will be easier, but for now we need to be on the best possible behavior. Please. :)
